What is a cleanroom mobile cart?

A cleanroom mobile cart is a wheeled stainless steel workstation built for pharmaceutical cleanroom environments. It rolls into Grade C–D zones and gives operators MES, LIMS or eBR access at the point of work. Sample registration at the bench, batch records at the line, deviations logged before they leave the room.

The Kinetic-ID stainless steel cleanroom cart (ID-Flow 5) is the configuration most pharma sites end up running. 304L stainless, ingress protection rated, hot-swap batteries, ISO Class 7–8 validated. It is the same chassis whether your purchase requisition calls it a cleanroom mobile cart, a cGMP cart, or a pharmaceutical cleanroom cart. The hardware does not change.

The problem

Three ways fixed terminals cost you batches

Data lives at fixed terminals. Work happens on the floor.

Every walk to a fixed MES terminal risks a transcription error and delays the batch. Operators lose 20–40 minutes per shift to the commute.

Manual re-entry invites audit findings.

Paper-to-system transcription is the most-cited deviation source in FDA 483 letters. Each manual step is a CAPA risk.

Upstream deviations go undetected until batch failure.

Without floor-level visibility, QC and engineering see deviations only after the batch record is compiled, hours or days after they could have been corrected.

Hygienic design

Ingress-free surface design

ID-Flow 5 uses a smooth, welded 304L stainless steel envelope with no exposed fasteners or inset seams. Particulates and solvent residue have nowhere to settle that an operator can't wipe. Every external surface is cleanable in one pass.

Welded stainless, no crevices

The envelope is continuous-welded 304L stainless with surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 µm. Corners are rounded and the top slopes, so particulates have nowhere to settle.

Cleans with what you already use

Your existing cleaning protocols will work: IPA, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, quats. If you need material traceability documentation for validation, we issue it on request.

Built against Annex 1

Designed against the EU GMP Annex 1 requirements for equipment operating in controlled and aseptic environments. Documentation supports cGMP requirements under 21 CFR Part 211 as well as EU GMP Annex 1. If you want support building this into your contamination control strategy for PQ, we can help.

Deployment process

How a deployment works

  1. Discovery call

30 minutes. One site, one line, one application. We’ll recommend the right configuration.

  2. Workflow review

Site survey, configuration spec, validation requirements signed off with your team.

  3. Pilot deployment (optional)

A single unit on site for a typical 30-day evaluation. Hands-on support from our team throughout.

  4. Roll-out & support

Standard 6–8 week build, 5-year Kinetic-Power warranty, ongoing support.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this specified as a workstation, a cart, or a trolley?

ID-Flow 5 is specified differently across regions and functions: workstation, mobile HMI, cleanroom cart, stainless steel trolley. It is the same product, engineered for pharmaceutical-grade cleanroom mobility regardless of how it appears on your purchase requisition.

Which cleanroom grades is it validated for?

ID-Flow 5 is designed for ISO Class 7 and Class 8 environments, equivalent to EU GMP Grade C and Grade D. The 304L stainless chassis, ingress protection rated enclosure and low particle-shed construction are suited to cleanroom operation.

Which LIMS platforms are validated?

Active deployments exist with LabVantage, STARLIMS, LabWare and Thermo SampleManager. Integration is browser-based over Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax). Kinetic-ID does not host or process LIMS data — audit trails and data stay inside your existing systems. Customer-validated configuration details are available on request under NDA.

How does the battery hot-swap work?

The cart uses two 500 Wh Li-ion battery packs. Battery exchange takes approximately 5 minutes and requires removing access screws from the underside of the cart. Plan exchanges for shift changes or natural workflow breaks rather than mid-task — the brief operational pause is best treated as a scheduled handover rather than an interruption.

What's the lead time for a standard configuration?

Standard configurations ship in 6–8 weeks from order confirmation. Custom configurations (specific peripheral bundles, branded fascia, non-standard screen sizes) add 2–4 weeks. Every unit ships with IQ/OQ documentation and a validated delivery file.

Can we pilot a single unit before scaling?

Yes. Get an ID-Flow unit on site to evaluate against your operational and validation requirements. Typical pilots run around 30 days, though we’ll work with your team on the right timeline. Site survey, setup support and IQ/OQ documentation are included.

Is the cart suitable for Grade A or B aseptic processing zones?

ID-Flow 5 is specified for Grade C and Grade D environments. For Grade A or B aseptic processing zones, look at ID-Flow 9, which is fully sealed 316L stainless and built specifically for critical zones. We can recommend the right product based on your room classification.
